Household Goods Recycling of Massachusetts provides free household goods to people in need. 
They donated single chairs to artists and art students and invited them to turn the chair into a work of art, the resulting pieces where auctioned off at their fundraising event: "A Chair To Sit In" benefit HGRM. Here is one of these beauties.

Recycled Plastic chair

The Zulu Mama Chairᵀᴹ is created through the use of an Zulu basket weaving technique adapted for weaving modern recycled plastic onto CNC bent recycled stainless steel frames. The weaving work contributes to the economic empowerment of township women.

Recycled acrylic chair

Trust the bankers way of giving back is through their off-casts. It's a start and not a bad one at that if Boston-based Phil Manker has anything to do with it. This very unusual outdoor table is made with concrete door pediments, connected with a custom cast violet acrylic cylinder. Chairs are made with recycled bulletproof acrylic from bank teller windows.
